Warning Diarrhea, a dangerous disease that spreads during the hot season
Diarrhea is one of the most common illnesses during the summer and can occur at any time. It may be caused by bacteria, viruses, protozoa, parasites, helminths, or rotavirus. Patients typically experience watery stools at least 3 times a day, or stools with mucus or blood at least once, along with frequent vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, and high fever.

Today, we share tips to help prevent diarrhea

  • Always eat freshly cooked food : Freshly cooked meals reduce the risk of contamination from bacteria that may be present in leftovers or food left out too long.
  • Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly : Rinse under running water multiple times or use a safe vegetable wash to remove pesticide residues and unseen microbes.
  • Drink only clean water : Choose boiled or properly filtered water. Avoid ice made from potentially unsafe water sources.
  • Wash your hands before eating and after using the toilet : Proper handwashing with soap and clean water significantly reduces the risk of infection via the oral route.
  • Maintain general cleanliness : Focus on areas like the kitchen, bathrooms, and spaces shared with children or the elderly—groups that are more vulnerable to infection.
  • Clean up vomit with disinfectant : Use effective disinfectant products to destroy viruses and bacteria and reduce the spread of illness in the household or public areas.
Important : Do not self-medicate with anti-diarrheal drugs. Diarrhea usually resolves within 2–3 days. Stick to easily digestible foods like soup, boiled vegetables, porridge, or mild broths. Drink oral rehydration solution or clean water frequently to replace lost fluids. If vomiting persists, stools exceed 4 times a day, or you experience high fever, dizziness, or fainting, seek immediate medical attention for proper and safe treatment.
