The second pregnancy is usually bigger than the first, is it true?

Expecting mothers of the second pregnancy may feel that their current pregnancy is different from their first in several ways, especially with regards to the significant increase in weight and the size of their belly. But why does the second pregnancy seem so different? Today, we have reasons to share with everyone.

Lingering weight from the previous birth and hormonal changes:

After giving birth to your first child, it may be challenging to quickly reduce the weight gained during pregnancy, particularly if there isn't a substantial gap between your first and second pregnancies. This limited time may allow for less body adjustment. Additionally, hormonal changes resulting from the first pregnancy can lead to significant weight gain, a larger and more prominent belly compared to the first pregnancy, and potentially more difficulty in losing weight after giving birth.

Lower position of the baby in the second pregnancy:

After delivering your first child, the uterus tends to remain expanded and may not fully contract as it did before childbirth. This is why the second pregnancy causes a noticeable and rapid expansion of the belly. Furthermore, it is common for the position of the baby in the second pregnancy to be lower, resulting in a larger belly. You may also experience a feeling of heaviness in your abdomen after giving birth, indicating the lower position of the baby during the second pregnancy.

It's important to note that the increased weight gain and larger belly during the second pregnancy are normal occurrences. There's no need to worry. Some simple tips for maintaining a healthy second pregnancy include avoiding an empty stomach by consuming nutritious food, avoiding heavy lifting, and sleeping on your left side with a pillow between your legs. However, if you experience any other abnormal symptoms during your second pregnancy, it is recommended to consult with your healthcare provider for proper evaluation and care
